OMV supplied high spec concrete to Raubex construction for SANRALS Musina Ring Road project in Limpopo province. The R640 million project which allows the N1 to bypass Musina. The construction of an 8km greenfield, single carriageway freeway,three major bridges and two interchanges.

OMV supplied 4000m3 of W40 concrete for the 3x bridge decks and piers where durability of the concrete is critical, another 4000m3 of concrete was supplied for V drains, culverts and cavity walls.

Another challenge was present by the hot temperatures up to 45 degree Celsius, a typical Musina summer. The concrete temperatures needed to be kept under 30 degrees Celsius to prevent thermal cracking. This was achieved by a combination of measures, which included keeping the aggregate under shades and cooling it with sprayers which involved installing a cooling tower to keep the water cool.
