Metacote Plus

Metacote Plus is a lightweight building material with a wide range of construction or renovation applications which comes in a 20kg or 40kg bag.

It can be used in home improvement projects for providing a highly polished smooth surface, a brushed finish or a textured plaster finish. Use in the construction industry allow for projects with brickwork, concrete blocks, drywalling and as a finishing plaster for sand cement base coats.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

METACOTE is a formulated and retarded gypsum hemihydrate finishing plaster.

PHYSICAL PROPERTIES

Colour: Off white 85 – 95% whiteness scale
Dry pack density: 0.6 – 0.8
pH: 7 – 10
Dry set density: 1.45
Coverage of 40 kg: 25m2 for 3mm thick
11.5m2 for 5 – 6mm thick
Compressive strength: 2 – 4 N/mm2 (DIN EN 13279-2)
Flexural strength: 2.5-3.5 N/ nm2 (DIN EN 13279-2)
Bound Moisture: 5 – 7%
Pot life of mixed plaster: 40 – 60 minutes
Initial set: Cement needle test 20 – 30 minutes (DIN EN 13279-2)
Final set: Cement needle test 60 – 80 minutes (DIN EN 13279-2)
Typical drying time on board 24 – 38 hours (Weather Dependent)

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS

Water / Plaster ratio: 0.55 – 0.65
Add 40 kg METACOTE to 22 – 26 litres of water
Allow to soak for 5 minutes
Mix until lump-free to a smooth paste

APPLICATION DETAILS

Water / powder ratio: 0.55 – 0.65
Application surfaces:
Apply to clean surface
Sprinkle water onto the surface
Apply METACOTE onto surface with a steel trowel
After 20 – 30 minutes, level with steel trowel
After 45 – 55 minutes, wet float with carpet or rubber float
After 60 – 70 minutes, final finishing to smooth surface by scraping trowel.
Do not mix more METACOTE than you can use in 60 minutes.
Do not apply less than 3mm thick
Application thickness 3 – 75mm in multiple coats

CLEANING:

Clean all tools thoroughly with water before mixing the next batch
PACKAGING:
20 kg bags.
40 kg bags.
10 kg buckets.

STORAGE:

Store in a cool dry place away from direct sun and humidity.
